Dunsavage Farms is a picturesque two-story home overlooking a shimmering lake (not for fishing or swimming) on 23 acres of an everchanging canvas of wildflowers or summer knee-high Bermuda grass (for hay), drifts of sleepy cattle, thick hardwood and pine forests, and a seven mile vista, wondrous to behold.
You can rock peacefully on the grand porch, watch the mockingbirds dip and dive ... pull a chair out at night to be engulfed by an eternity of stars as far as your eyes can see (no city lights)... or join your hostess on the back porch for a spectacular sunset behind the "Indian tree" on the highest hill in Baxter.
The B&B is located in the heart of East Texas' wholesale plant operations (bushes, trees, herbs, bedding plants, roses, and berries), and it also is within driving distrance of Canton (for First Monday's Weekend), Tyler, Athens, Palestine and Cedar Creek Lake.
The atmospheric show house is filled with comfortable antiques, three fireplaces, original Texas art, a library of books for borrowing, and good music. All rooms feature breathtaking views and private baths, including the master bedroom with sunken tub.
Dunsavage Farms has drawn rave reviews from The Dallas Morning News and Southern Living. No wonder. It was the original home of the New York, Texas, Cheesecake, which won the Chef's Gold Medal Award and other national awards as one of the best desserts in the country. Although the cheesecake is no longer produced at Dunsavage Farms, you can still acquire it in a shop just north off the Athens' square at the New York, Texas, Cheesecake Shop.

You can sleep as late as you wish (breakfast is prepared for your schedule), schedule a massage (in advance, please), drop by the full-facility exercise and swimming pool Cain Center, or obtain a map of the back roads of East Texas or great shopping and artists' studios from your hostess.
