A tranquil haven in the city centre...
Luxury, 4-star, main door apartment in rare 17th-century Scottish townhouse, set in the midst of peaceful parkland, yet only a 15-minute stroll from the city centre.
In addition to its unique location, Pilrig House also has a notable and fascinating history – it was owned by the same family, the Balfours, for hundreds of years. Robert Louis Stevenson’s grandfather, James Balfour, lived here, and RLS refers to Pilrig House in many of his novels and letters, including Kidnapped and Catriona.
The apartment sleeps 3 (fold-down bed available for 4th person, as well as a travel cot, if required), and is extremely comfortable, with a delightful mix of period and contemporary furnishings. There is a double and a single bedroom, both with park views, a spacious living-room with designated dining-area and lovely recess window seat overlooking the park, a fully-equipped kitchen, and bathroom (with shower over bath).
As well as the parkland location, history and literary connections, there is a Regency garden with secluded seating areas, a private parking space, and a stunning Doric staircase and portico entrance with double oak doors - a wonderful suntrap!
