Built in 1869, the Vrooman Mansion had extensive additions in 1900, doubling its size. This historic home has 36 rooms on three floors with over 10,000 sq. ft. of living space. Every effort has been made to retain the mansion's authentic decor and ambience.
Stained glass and leaded beveled glass windows greet you upon arrival to the grand, two-story English-style lobby complete with inglenook. The family crests in the surrounding stained glass and the woodwork above the fireplace are an elegant reminder of the ancestry of European nobility.
Let your imagination carry you through the corridors of the past as you sip tea in the parlor admiring its hand-painted ceiling. Enjoy breakfast at the home's original hand-carved dining table where dignitaries such as Adlai E. Stevenson and Eleanor Roosevelt dined with the Vrooman family.
The mansion's one acre, park-like setting will help you relax, away from the cares of modern life. Relive history as you imagine being present during debates by both Lincoln and Douglas. These historic events have been memorialized by the State with a plaque where the original Lincoln Oak once stood, in the Southeast corner of the grounds.
Old World charm surrounds you as you enter the second floor guest quarters. The large rooms have been tastefully decorated with antique and period furniture for your comfort and enjoyment. Cancellation Fees: No charge for cancellation prior to ten days before scheduled stay. Cancellation between ten and two days will require a $25 cancellation charge. Cancellation on the day before your scheduled stay will require 50% of total first nights room rate. Cancellation on day of scheduled stay will require total first night's room rate. We will gladly refund the applicable cancellation fee if we are able to rent that room for the cancelled night. Vrooman
