Joan and Fred welcome you to this carpenter Gothic style inn that was built in 1869. It is one of the eight famous “Stockton Row Cottages”. The Gingerbread House has been meticulously and elegantly restored. It provides a comfortable setting amidst the wonderful furnishings of a golden age. The house is loaded with gingerbread woodwork, incorporating the innkeeper’s talents and craftsmanship. His creations include the double entrance doors of teakwood with titanium handles and beveled glass, the ornate gingerbread exterior wood trim and upgraded bathrooms of teakwood and corian, to mention a few. Genuine Victorian furnishings, lace curtains, original Cape May watercolor paintings by Fred’s mother, award winning photographs and classical music provide a lovely atmosphere with friendly service and attention to detail. There are 6 lovely guest rooms with either a private or share bath. The master suite not only has a private bath, 2 double beds and a lovely large veranda on the second floor. The wicker filled porches overlook the lovely garden and capture the sounds of the sea and the ocean breezes. The Gingerbread House is located in the historic district and just ˝ block from the beach.

A delicious home-baked breakfast is served every morning buffet style in the elegant dining room between 8:30am. - 10am. Guests can enjoy their breakfast in either the dining room or on the front porch.Our healthy style breakfast consists of coffee, teas, juice, homemade granola cereal, assorted yogurts, fresh seasonal sliced fruit or fruit compote and home-baked coffee cakes, muffins or cinnamon buns, and a hot breakfast casserole of the day.
Afternoon Tea
Between 4pm - 5pm enjoy a complimentary afternoon tea to add pleasure to your palate. Our menu consists of hot tea in the cooler months and iced tea and lemonade during the warmer months along with homemade sweets and savories. This is a delightful time of the day to mingle with other guests and relax before dinner.

Deposit & Cancellation Info:
Weekends - 3 night minimum stays are required from mid-June thru mid-October (some exceptions do apply). All remaining weekends require a 2 night stay. Certain holiday weekends require a 3 or 4 night stay.
50% deposit of the total charges if more than a two-night reservation.
A one-night stay requires payment in full.
In the event of a cancellation, the deposit less a $30 handling fee will be refunded if we are able to refill the entire vacancy. Deposits for weekends, holidays and one-night reservations are non-refundable.
